Block spam and telemarketing calls on Android
Screener is a free, open source call blocker for India that follows your rules. Block or allow calls by number or by the caller name your network sends, from a single pesky caller to an entire series.

A spam call blocker that stays out of your way
Screener quietly checks calls from unknown numbers and rejects the ones that match your rules.
Rules you control
Block or allow calls with a regular expression on the phone number or on the caller name your network sends. Test a rule before you save it, or block all unknown callers.
Works with your phone app
Screener does not replace your dialer. It only takes Android’s caller ID & spam role, so Google Phone or any other phone app keeps working as usual.
Your contacts always ring
Android never sends calls from saved contacts to the screener, so friends, family and colleagues always get through.
Made for Indian networks
Ready-made rules for 140 series telemarketing, 160 series service numbers and cloud telephony ranges, plus a rule for spam labels sent by Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL.
Private and offline
No internet permission, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your rules and call log stay on your phone and are excluded from backups.
A log of every screened call
See each call the screener handled, the rule that matched, and the raw details your carrier passed along.
Built-in rules for Indian spam numbers
These rules are ready from the first launch. Switch any of them off, or add your own on top.
| Rule | Matches | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Telemarketing (140 series) | Numbers starting with 140 | Block |
| Service calls (160 series) | Numbers starting with 160 (banks, insurance, government) | Allow |
| Bangalore cloud telephony | Numbers starting with 8071 | Block |
| Ahmedabad cloud telephony | Numbers starting with 7935 | Block |
| Ahmedabad cloud telephony | Numbers starting with 7971 | Block |
| Carrier spam label | Caller name containing “spam”, “fraud” or “scam” | Block |
How Screener works
- Step 1
Set it as your caller ID & spam app
Open Screener once and grant the call screening role. You can revoke it any time in system settings.
- Step 2
An unknown number calls
Android hands Screener the number and the caller name from your network. Saved contacts skip this step.
- Step 3
Your rules decide
Allow rules are checked first, then block rules. If nothing matches, the call rings, unless “Block all unknown callers” is on.
- Step 4
Every decision is logged
Rejected and allowed calls show up in Activity on your phone, along with the rule that matched.
